Hobbits have a passion for mushrooms, surpassing even the greediest likings of Big People. A fact which partly explains young Frodo's long expeditions to the renowned fields of the Marish, and the wrath of the injured Maggot.

'They seem a bit above my likes and dislikes, so to speak,' answered Sam slowly. 'It don't seem to matter what I think about them. They are quite different from what I expected - so old and young, and so gay and sad, as it were.'

'... Then you may remember Galadriel, and catch a glimpse far off of Lorién, that you have seen only in our winter. For our Spring and our summer are gone by, and they will never be seen on earth again save in memory. '

We are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.

In the morning you must depart, for now we have chosen, and the tides of fate are flowing.

his hood was cast back, and his dark hair was blowing in the wind, a light was in his eyes: a king returning from exile to his own land.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

'Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.

The Shire had seldom seen so fair a summer, or so rich an autumn: the trees were laden with apples, honey was dripping in the combs, and the corn was tall and fall.

Short cuts make long delays.

'Oh, that won't do!' said Bilbo. 'Books ought to have good endings. How would this do: and they all settled down and lived together happily ever after?'

'Shelter!' muttered Sam. 'If this is shelter, then one wall and no roof make a house.

'Now it is time to drink the cup of farewell,' Galadriel said. 'Drink, Lord of the Galadhrim! And let not your heart be sad, though night must follow noon, and already our evening draweth nigh.'

Hobbits are an unobstrusive but very ancient people, more numerous formerly than they are today; for they love peace and quiet and good tilled earth: a well-ordered and well-farmed conuntryside was their favourite haunt.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.
