馬修•巴托斯(Matthew Battles)目前任職於哈佛大學霍夫頓圖書館(Houghton Library),並擔任《哈佛圖書館學報》(Harvard Library Bulletin)的編務,也為《哈波雜誌》(Harper's)撰稿。曾在哈佛的總館懷德納圖書館(Widener Library)擔任決定哪些書該留在書架,哪些書可以退到儲備書庫的館藏評鑑者之工作。另著有《懷德納圖書館傳》(Widener : Biography of a Library)一書。
